Great role models for helping out others in need. Not that GOP would ever understand that concept.

Exactly why we need to redistribute the wealth. Why should some live in big houses and other people live in small houses? Are we not created equal? Why are there unequal outcomes? We need a new Minnesota Department of Equalization to ensure we have equal outcomes in Minnesota through social justice.

The only thing the GOP will take away from this article is the part about people struggling to pay the $2 to $24 sliding fee. I'm sure they're wondering why those "freeloaders" are getting such a handout from the government. I'd guess that not one of them has ever struggled or tried to stand on their own two feet without one iota of help from anyone in their families (or maybe their families are struggling too). I remember growing up in a single parent household after my mom left my abusive alcoholic father. She tried repeatedly to leave "the system" only to get slapped back into it. As soon as she got a job, the subsidies shrunk. Can't pay rent and child care out of the same small paycheck. Can't buy food and gas for a car with the same small paycheck. If you can't feed your family while working, you do what you need to--in many cases that means going back into "the system". Kudos to the people still fighting every day to be productive members of society and to the people helping them get there--one day at a time.

Whatever. So, a 10%+ increase in state spending isn't enough after the 'compromise' for you ner do'wells? Pathetic. Do you not see this isn't sustainable? Duh? Tax the crap out of people. It won't matter. The growth of the gov't is simply not sustainable. Can you say 'Greece'?

Periodically I spend time on the streets of Minneapolis and talk to the homeless people and offer them gift cards for food and winter clothing. Many of them are veterans, others mentally ill, some were once family men making good livings but had the misfortune of losing their jobs, homes and family. Most appear to be resigned that this is their life now and sometimes turn down help when offered.

"Great role models for helping out others in need. Not that GOP would ever understand that concept."... So why is it then that study after study has proven beyond any shadow of a doubt that Republicans give far more to charitable causes then then Democrats. These studies were conducted by everyone from the IRS to liberal college professors. Democrats are quite generous when it comes to spending other people's money.
