Hopefully it opens with slots and black jack for the benefit of the state of Minnesota...not like other casinos that I will not mention.

The race track prepaid July costs for the state inspectors. That money should be refunded or applied to August as those services were not rendered. It is a shame that the government "special master" could not see that and gave permission for the Zoo to open and not the race tracks.

Randy Sampson/John Derus are con men. Like any good con they have been misdirecting the mark,us the taxpayer, from the what they do not want us to see. First its all about the horses, then its all about the unemployed workers but what its really about is the millions and millions and millions of card club money the millionaire owners and their limited preferred stock holders are losing. the truth of the matter is that their respective tracks pay NO taxes on their card games. They say they pay corporate taxes but to that you would have to turn a profit. Who else can take a million dollar tax write down for investing one million dollars for their only money making asset, the card club. The real con is telling people that their card club will resolve the budget. The fact of the matter is that it will make the millionair Sampsons even richer. just take a look at their stock. A good con leaves the mark holding the bag and the con man richer. I wonder if the millionair Sampson's supported Goveror Dayton"s tax the rich proposal

The photograph near the rear of the horse has pretty much summed up this whole fiasco...

really1979 You can rest assured the Sampsons didn't make any of their millions from Cantebury. In fact if it was for Dale and Curtis stepping in and RESCUING Canterbury from the auction block the last time the track went bankrupt, there would be no horse racing industry in MN now. As far as the card club "resolving the budget" not sure where you're getting your info but if the card club was making that much money, they wouldn't be begging for a Racino!!

It's long overdue for the state to get some tax money from gambling in this state and I for one am very supportive of a racino or two in the state. There's competition everywhere which is how money is made and why shouldn't the state make some money? I don't believe that there should ever be a monopoly on the gaming industry anymore than a monopoly on fast food! If the lawmakers don't start to look seriously at bringing in new revenue through gambling we will eventually see another state shutdown again because of lack of revenue. I support fully a nonmonopoly on casinos and gambling in this state and believe strongly that it is the best interest of every tax payer to seriously consider both the racinos or a casino on block e or both for all the tax money these two things will bring into the state coffers.

To REALLY1979 - Get real. For some reason you don't like the Sampsons. You don't have your facts straight. Maybe you live down the street about 5 miles????
