Hennepin County will consider reviving a wheelage tax it hasn't used since 1975 to pay down debt on the Lowry Avenue Bridge.

Commissioner Jeff Johnson said: "If we have to create a new tax because we can't find $4 million in there for the bridge, we need to look at our priorities." Might I suggest he return every county dollar that comes to his district as a start? It's only a show of good faith and honesty.

Hennepin County. Our own little microcosm of socialism in action.

They paid too much for this bridge. A suspension bridge??? Probably about $25 million too much!

UNBELIEVABLE! The bridge costs 92million most of which is covered by the state and Hennepin county wants a wheelage tax to pay for their share? Cut commissioners salaries, benefits and perks....there's your money.

"...860,000 registered vehicles that would be subject to the tax. Minus administrative payments, the tax would generate a little more than $4 million." ---- What are these "administrative payments" and why are they almost $300,000?

How much money was wasted when they rehabbed the old bridge and then tore it down a couple of years later?

A new tax? Really? That's so cool! Way to think outside of the box!

I think most of you missed the part about lowering property taxes. This is just a shifting of bridge costs from property owners to vehicle owners.
