I have no problems with the ticket brokers trying to make a buck, but the street vendors can take a flying leap. It is no different than dealing with the carnies at the fair. I went to opening day where the street vendors wanted my first born to get a ticket. We watched at a local establishment and kept checking in every half inning. At the end of the 5th inning they still wanted twice the face value of tickets. I allowed them to eat their tickets and enjoyed an ice cold beverage and the game on hi def right across the street from Target Field.

This article belongs on the business page and not in the sports section. There was a time not long ago when scalping was against the law. What do scalpers contribute to a community? Do scalpers pay taxes for their "work?" Is it an honest way to make a living? Now MLB has their own official ticket scalpers in StubHub, and people who grew up with the air of libertarianism think jobs associated with gambling, prostitution and marijuana contribute to a town. Just because a scalping business can pay rent, pay lobbyists, buy commercial time, or or get a website, does not change a vice into a virtuous business. And scalping is now a sport?

Oh those poor crooks, er, scalpers who had to take such a loss on tickets early in the season. I feel so bad for them.

They are called "scalpers" for a good reason! Just a little self-control would change things in a hurry -- I watched in HD on Sunday afternoon (74 degree temps at my house) and wondered just what attraction there is to risking heat stroke and severe sunburn? I will be back in my comfortable, great-view value seat again this afternoon -- and my scalp will be in tact, too! Oh well, I guess somebody has to pay Matt Capps' contract!?
