Brad johnson is twice a former viking QB who had to go to another team to win a Super Bowl ring. He also has as many Super Bowl rings as Brett Favre!!! Does this mean he will be a shoe in for the Hall of Fame???

I wish Ponder much success as I'm sure everyone else does; but if the offensive line does not greatly improve he will be running for his life.

Okay, Brad Johnson was a good QB, but name another FSU QB who made it in the NFL. I can remember a few notable busts. I am not impressed with the athletic ability of Ponder. He may have the intellectual gifts of a big time QB, but I don't see the physical gifts necessary in the NFL.

@rho1953 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-Jar435rnc take a look at this play and say again how Ponder's athletic ability doesn't impress you. When someone throws a 55yd laser and hits the receiver on the numbers while running left and throwing over right shoulder while avoiding defenders I will no longer question their athletic ability. Hope you enjoy the video.

Also considering Blaine Gabbert was still on the board at 10 and Washington passed on him and traded back hoping to nab Christian Ponder with the 16th pick says allot at what they saw in the kid. The Vikings had to take him or lose him and after watching all of this kids videos and now hearing how he tried to organize workouts as a rookie with no pay says allot about who he is as a person. The Vikings picked up a leader with this kid.

Brad Johnson was an outstanding NFL quarterback? Wow, we really set the bar for outstanding pretty low. Johnson was a journeyman qb. Thats it. He was never a great quarterback let alone an outstanding one. He didn't even start at Florida State, he was the backup to Casey Weldon.

I'm tellin' ya, people have no idea how good this Ponder kid is going to be. Stongest arm coming out of college in several years, incredible athlete (4.5 40 speed), incredibly gifted and smart. This kid is going to rewrite the record books, he's Tom Brady but with more talent and maybe not Michael Vick fast but at least Steve Young fast. Combine him with the greatest running back in the history of the NFL and you have an unstoppable combination. Can't wait for the football season to get started!

You take a guy in the first round, especially the top half, he better have "the talent"
