Gee maybe we could have a better bus system if we didn't waste millions on light rail

As long as millionaires aren't inconvenienced, go right ahead with the cuts. Build them a stadium whilst you're at it, and maybe you can fire a few bus drivers at the same time.

It's unbelievable we can't run this to support itself.

public transportation is subsidised by the public taxpayor. Time to end this, and make it real. People need to pay for the real price of whatever services they use. Why should I pay for someone who cannot afford bus fare?

It's unethical for the state to spend a dime on a Vikings Stadium when hard-working people will be asked to also take a cut in basic transportation service AND pay more for what's left. Let's hope Dayton wins on this point at least.

Bus and rail are important. We can improve the system by using smaller airport shuttle-style buses for less busy routes and periods. The drivers also collect PENSIONS as a form of hidden compensation. My point is, there are ways to run a transit system in Minneapolis / St Paul at about half the cost of today's system.

DSavard - you are correct, they do not use it but they pay for it nonetheless.

Sorry transit fans, your ride is going up to $10 each way. We gotta pay for a Central Corridor light rail line, don'tcha know...because the existing buses that served that route didn't meet your transportation needs, right?
