The U can't do this! The world needs more lawyers and Senior Associate VP's of Quality Information Supply Logistics.

This is a horrible idea. I hope that the law school and the Carlson school are required to purchase from the University the buildings that they are using. Or, if they are private, move off campus completely and remove the University of Minnesota from their name. Disgraceful. William B. Gleason, U of M alum and faculty

Whew! Now they won't have to be tied by the limitations of state government. Now they just have to be tied by the limitations of their private benefactors. We all know that businesses have only the best intentions when it comes to education or anything else for that matter. You think you hate lawyers and corporate executives now, wait until the likes of the Koch brothers have influence over their curricula.

Fantastic! We have WAY too many lawyers as it is. There were few jobs for lawyers in the Cities before St. Thomas opened ANOTHER law school. I certainly don't see why there should be any state subsidy of a factory that produces graduates in a field where there's already a glut. In fact, it would be great to close the U of M law school and another 1 or 2 in the area. I don't know the MBA situation as well, but am betting it is similar.

If Minnesota won't commit to public education, there's no reason for the State's premier law school to comit to Minnesota.

lubug2, I earned my MBA in 2009 and work in an entry-level hourly position. I have almost 20 years of work experience and that was the best I could find. Fortunately, I like my job and am keeping that in mind when I get my paycheck. MBA's over the past couple of years have been reduced to penny candy. Anyone can get one so it doesn't mean a whole lot, no matter how hard a person really worked to get it.

Tuition at the U of M law school currently is only slightly less than it's primary in-state competitor, William Mitchell College of Law, at roughly $32k vs. $34k. The U, however, continues to be ranked among America's best law schools. It would be a shame to lose its presence as a true public school, with its preference for Minnesota residents.

these guys aren't entrepreneurial. they're enjoying the tuition bubble just like home buyers enjoyed the real-estate bubble! and they're ready to suck every drop of blood out of whoever wanders by! ;-)
