People rely on food shelves to make sure their children are fed. It's bad enough that this wealthy country has up to 25% of it's children living below the poverty line, but to close it's lifeline was wrong. It IS an essential service!!!! These are dependent American children I am talking about. Most are too young to get a job. They didn't choose their family situation. Because their caregivers are struggling, do not give us the right to turn our backs on them. They need our support and love.

Proof positive that Dayton is forcing the children to go hungry. So let's not ever hear any more nonsense about Republicans killing people or holding the people hostage-agreed?

700,000 pounds of free food. The more you give away the more people will stand in line for a free handout. Cut it off and it is guaranteed no one will starve. If they go hungry it is by choice.

Why does the coordination of distributing this food need to be done by one State employee rather than by a nonprofit's employee or a volunteer? Sounds like it's not even a full-time role. Rediculous how the State is inserted as key-point / chokehold in so many nonprofit or for-profit (e.g., lumber operations, racing operations) endeavors.

"Cut it off and it is guaranteed no one will starve. If they go hungry it is by choice."--Yeah. That's what Marie Antoinette used to think too.

Ohh good, a bunch of "poor" overweight people with cell phones getting free food. The definition of irony.

Patrickjd: Perhaps you just shouldhave said, "let them eat cake." That way your ignorance could echo through history.

cjbrum: The reason is that all the christians are jet-skiing on lake minnetonka right now instead of feeding the poor. Don't you remember when jesus feed the 5,000? They made them all show photo I.d.s and prove that they had a job first. You see, it would have been more like 7,845, but the disiples were all such good republicans that they were able to weed out all the free-loaders.

---Proof positive that Dayton is forcing the children to go hungry. So let's not ever hear any more nonsense about Republicans killing people or holding the people hostage-agreed?---Far from agreeing. I remember some republicans right before this arguing with a judge about what should and should not be shut down - guess what - they wanted MORE shutdown and were arguing what was essential services. Illusion is fun to watch, delusion is an illness.
