The new Republicans are doing what they said they'd do..."starve the beast" and protect the wealthiest Minnesotans from progressive income taxation...thank all the good believers who voted them in, especially the anti-choice bishops and their flock! God Bless America and support our troops and wars...sure, we could use the money at home but, we need to teach the people with oil who is the boss!

Have a happy 4th of July and realize that ALL Americans deserve life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Take care of the less fortunate and be a good citizen.

Keep up the great fight. Don't give in to the Dayton's demands. See what happens with 4 decades of the dems being in control. $5B in the hole. Thanks Liberals for nothing.

It is Governor Dayton that should be facing the public. I wonder if he is hiding under a desk somewhere. He needs to explain his disdain for the wealthy, I think this is clouding his judgement. But most of all, he needs to explain why he rejected the balanced budget that was submitted to him on time. By the way that budget was the largest budget in State history but not enough for this socialist. Before he is through, we all may be dependent on Government.

"The suburb . . . has traditionally elected Republicans, but in recent years grown more hospitable to Democrats." This will be America in 2012. People are figuring out what the real Conservative agenda is, and it ain't pretty.

I am sure Governor Dayton would be getting an earful if he would be attending any activities or parades today.

doubledipper Please explain why the $34B budget that Dayton rejected was not enough, it would have been the largest budget in State history. The class warfare that Dayton has invoked and you apparently agree with is poison and morally reprehensible.

Fascinating artice! Republicans are elected in a traditional Republican Area. The area has become more hospitable to Democrats in recent years, does that mean although Republicans are winning the public is trying to be nicer to Democrats? Finally, in a parade the Republicans have both supporters and detractors reacting to them. I wonder if I'm still young enough to go into journalism, I would have to do better than this.

Yes and John Ward got a much colder reception in the Crosby-Ironton parade than the Lemieur/Gazelka truck. I wonder when that will be a headline story.

In other news, the sun rose in the east this morning, and is expected to set in the west. Seriously? Politicians heard from both sides at a public event, and this is somehow newsworthy?
