Notice THEY can still collect taxes. It is no longer us. We need to support this shutdown. It will help to weed out services we realize we can do without. Government is much to big. Dayton appears as scared as he was during his Anthrax scare when he came running home. Can anyone admit to voting for him?

It takes two to tango; both sides have created this impasse while we Minnesotans have had to bear the burden of the consequences. On the other hand, the structure of Minnesota government and those who occupy it were put in place by none other than the citizens of Minnesota. We must call our representatives and tell them to get back to work on our behalf!

Yes, i agree we need to cut the fat and i dont care where the fat is. get rid of it. whats with the closing of the road side stops. I think there is usually one old retired guy there anyways. how much can that cost. how bout cutting the salaries of those overpaid "teachers" at the universities. see what they can get by on.

When you say the Stillwater Lift bridge 'will remain open', do you mean it'll be left in the 'up' position where cars cannot cross? or do you mean 'will continue to operate as normal?'

I can't say for sure, but I believe they would still be there if the Gov. had not slammed the door on them and told them to go home until he is ready again - hopefully this coming week. Gov. Dayton needs to realize that he may have been elected Gov., but the true voice of the people state wide was heard by who they elected to the two houses of the legislature.

Are the reversible express lanes on 394 open to carpools, or barricaded to all?

The Stillwater bridge should be operating as normal. There was talk of having a crew from the National Guard operate it during the shutdown, or perhaps they deemed MN-DOT's Stillwater crew essential.

Answered my own question regarding the reversible 394 lanes at the mnpass.net site: The gates will remain open in the westbound direction only, for carpools and motorcycles, the duration of the shutdown. Nobody is available to change the lanes over twice a day. This is important info for morning carpoolers coming in from the west.

"Minnesota Historical Society's 26 sites and museums will close, including the History Center, Mill City Museum, Historic Fort Snelling, Kelley Farm and Split Rock Lighthouse".------------->There's a historical marker with a pull off near the Kelly Farm. They even had that blocked off. There's no facilities there, not even a porta john. Why did they need to close that off? Does it cost money to have motorists pull off and read a historical marker? I can understand closing Kelly farm, but the historical marker? What knot head made that decision?
