This is a horrible ruling that defies common sense.

How government works and why it's broke 101. You have a cash positive business that brings in lots of money to the state coffers (horse racing, card club, wage taxes, sales taxes). Let's shut it down when we don't have enough revenue to run the state and put 1000+ people out of work (who pay taxes on their earnings) plus all the sales tax collected on the biggest weekend they will have. Yeah. Why do we wonder why we are in trouble again?

My goodness...brilliance displayed....entities that generate tax money for the state are shut down.....because our governor needs more money...brilliant

*sigh* if only the GOP was willing to tax the rich a little bit it all could have been avoided.

Protect the rich from progressive income taxation...pray for the GOP.

This decision makes no sense at all. The GOP is totally messing up the lives and livelihoods of many taxpayers and businesses all for their NEED to abide by Tony Sutton's insistence of forcing social issues. A deal was very close to being reached until the GOP threw in the anti-abortion, no stem cell research, anti-gay marriage on the table to be included in the budget bill. The race tracks have prepaid up to the end of July the costs associated with State Inspectors.

Quote; Minnesota's executive and legislative branches, she wrote, "are the branches best suited by experience and competency to make these decisions." With all due respect, judge, It doesn't work if we have inexperience and incompetence running the executive and legislative branches.

Its not the Dems or Republicans folks. Its the politicians. They have forgotten they are there to serve the public and are more interested in the soundbite on the 10 o'clock news that they can use in their next campaign. They are equally as guilty of not getting anything done or compromising. Its just sad the all the regular people (both citizens and workers) get caught in the middle of all of it. If it really was that important to any of them, they wouldn't have taken the long weekend off.

At leas the Zoo has some educational use versus horse racing. That might be considered a silver lining in this ruling I guess......
