Kaler wants time to evaluate Maturi

Its only going to take you about three days to figure out that Maturi needs to be replaced. If it takes longer then a week, then I'm going to start to doubt your ability to figure anything out.

Yeah, really, we'll soon see what this new President is all about. Maturi will be gone if Kaler is committed to having winning hockey, basketball and football teams.

President Kaler, Please just be pragmatic. Just review the Gophers success stories in the Athletic Department over the last 10 years. Review the hiring / terminations over the last 10 years.... and what it has cost MN taxpayers. The U of MN is the ONLY Division I school in the state with an enrollment of... say 60,000. Why can it not compete at all & continues to disappoint millions. In one word........MATURI

President Kaler, Mr. Maturi should not be your problem to deal with, but unfortunately he is. As you listen while making your employment decision about Mr. Maturi, please listen to those of us who buy season tickets in spite of the incompetence of our A.D.

I would say this to all of you negative Maturi folks out there. While MN has probably not done well in all revenue producing sports look at these questions and answer them honestly. How many D1 colleges have done well when they are competing with all 4 major sports teams in the metro area? Brewster was a bad hire, I give you that, but Maturi did not hire Mason nor Monson and fans were whining to fire them, have you thought of that? As for Lucia he did have success in his first years in MN, butt in this day and age athletes in most sports will not complete 4 years of eligibility because the pro teams have used colleges as a farm system. Yes Maturi has made mistakes but pro sports have contributed to the failing of all college athletics.

The headline should read "Kaler needs time to find a replacement for Maturi", because that's exactly what is happening. And, if the new AD is who I think it's going to be, Don Lucia should be nervous.
