Read this through again - state employees are feeling what the private sector has been feeling for years. No sympathy from me for them. They can't go on vacation? Neither can the rest of us. Have to have family watch their kids? So do the rest of us. Can't buy a lottery ticket? Hmmm - maybe you can use that money to pay your bills - like the rest of us. Instead of the government taking care of people, I note in this article that people are taking care of people. Isn't that the way it is supposed to be? Government is so overblown - sp many extra jobs in it. Maybe we can cut back on some of those now.

This is not the way to recover from a recession. Hello, double dip recession. This is what the GOP wanted all along...to cause a double dip recession and blame Obama.

I voted for Dayton on his promise of getting a state run casino. Where is that revenue? I made a huge mistake and will never vote democrat again.

Here's what the GOP thought was more important than providing essential services to MN: 1)banning stem cell research 2) rolling back women's rights to choose; 3) limiting union collective bargaining; 4) a highly partisan redistricting map; and 5) photo ID for voting. All these "fiscal" issues were re-introduced by Koch and Zellars in the last two days of negotiations. Zellars and Koch have shown they are not but the Tea Party version of schoolyard bullies. AND Dayton has shown them that geeks have the bigger cojones!

winstonb, are you seriously suggesting that parents shouldn't take thier kids to daycare or that we should close the lottery? You don't go on vacation? Half the state is on vaction this week. Sorry if there are jobs with benefits that may be better than yours but I'm betting they are in the private sector. Like billion $ CEO's. You know you are paying for that. Are you going to say shut down the oil compainies? Think it through.

BTW, I don't get the liberal NON-understanding about stem-cells and "Woman's right to choose". They get all-wild about anti-bullying. Stem-cell and abortion issues are the same ..only that this is the BULLYING (shoving around) of a BABY ...or a would-be BABY. Another person.

When this country was founded, the 99% of economic activity was the private sector. Government took as small-as-possible-cut of the private economy ..then carefully lived within it's means. NOW ...SHEESH ...it's reported as though 99% of the economy is THE GOVERNMENT ...who does, or doesn't get this or that "subsidy". What happened people????

As a millionaire, I want to thank the Republicans for protecting me. You can count on me sending in my large campaign contributions. And since I feel so happy, I might even create a job or two!

Wow! It is amazing how dependent some people allow themselves to become. This will be a good opportunity for people to see how they can live without counting on government for everything. I believe in Minnesotans. You can live without handouts or government jobs. You can do it!
