Amidst all the talk of certain calamity, some benefits of a shutdown begin to emerge...

This would mean more congestion. Reduces the transit advantage for choice riders, thereby pushing people INTO single occupancy automobiles. The 100,000+ who ride express buses into downtown each day are going to be screwed.

Look at it as an interesting experiment, how does traffic flow with the lanes open to all.

This is the first positive thing I have heard about the shutdown.

Yippee! Could there possibly be a better reason for shutting down State government?

Wonderful! The whole sane lane project has been a misguided Liberal Leftist social experiment from day one. Its revenue has been abyssmal.

"I-394 would be left as westbound only, Gutknecht said. I-35W would be available in both directions without any fee, he said." So no carpool lane going in to downtown in the mornings on 394?

Liberalelite. Your name says it all. When did you sell your soul to the government?

@tietac yeah one of those misguided liberal ideas which was championed by Pawlenty. Also one of those misguided leftist ideas that could actually move more PEOPLE in a lane than the general purpose lanes. For every bus that goes by every 30 seconds, imagine 40+ cars on the road.
