Revamping of Flyers begins with a pair of major trades

Well I can see why the Flyers moved Carter as they needed some cap room to sign Bryzgalov and they had been talking to teams about him for quite some time. I think they got back some good stuff for Carter. However, the Richards trade puzzles me. Why did they feel it was necessary to trade him? I think that was a bad move and they didn't get much back for him. Carter should thrive with Nash alongside him and congrats to LA for making a very good trade for Richards.
