If Gardy needs 3 catchers, then Mauer is not really ready to be back. He needs to decide: is Mauer our catcher or not? If he can't give a solid yes/no, it's time to move him so we don't have a hitting-plagued catcher wasting a spot on our bench!

dwallin443. Baseball is a business, not a popularity contest. IF, and that's a big IF, Mauer can't catch anymore, then it is time to move him. I remember when the Twins had to trade the finest baseball player in Twins or Senators history. It was a dirty rotten thing to happen to Harmon, but it still happened BECAUSE he couldn't do the job anymore. Well, if the same situation is happening to Mauer, meaning if he can't do the job anymore, then it is time to shop him.

If I were GM, I'd bundle up Cuddyer and Mauer now for some awesome pitchers.

It's too bad that Slowey has missed so much this year. His pouting and disire to be moved seems to be a sad reaction to his demotion to the bull pen. Career/next contract is more imporant than team I guess. We could use him as a reliever.

To heck with Thome. We should bring Ploufe back. He's killing the ball in Rochester. He'd look really nice coming off the bench. And he's showing some grit here. He's not letting Gardy's assessment bring him down. He's got a chip on his shoulder, he's killing the ball. I say bring him up.

Yea Mauer clearly can't play catcher any more, lets trade him. Im sure people will be lining up for a $23 million/year catcher who can't catch. Do you people think before posting? Your username is vikings though, so I should take that into consideration...

Granted it has only been 11 games but starting major league shortstops need to hit better then a .200 batting average.
