No federal assistance available for the North Side but the state has $300+ million dollars of corporate welfare lying around for multi millionaire vikings owner Zygi Wilf who lives in New Jersey!!!

Rybak's efforts illustrate to me one of the real pitfalls to having far leftwing activists fill leadership spots in local government. Having followed RT for a little while, he embodies the quinessential fringe liberal; unrealistic when times are "good" and ineffective when they are not. He has spent his tenure advancing the notion that the municipality is second in line where responsibility comes. The state of Minnesota and the federal government have provided untold tens of millions of dollars of assistance to Minneapolis and no matter what, it is never enough. Infrastructure damage I can understand needing some outside help with but the idea that between corporate assistance, volunteers and privately held insurance Rybek doesn't first look to reserves, second the local tax base, third the county and fourth the State but instead calls on his "political friend", the President, tells me he isn't serious about leadership.

Rybak is having a tough 2011. 1) LGA proposed to be reduced 2) Mpls Police Pension fiasco 3) Potentially losing the vikings from downtown 4) $2.2 Million judgment against the city of Mpls for a Mpls Police killing 4) Not enough Federal dollars given in an area where Insurance should cover the damage costs.

Rybak is just using all the tools in the toolbox to fix the problem. Some handymen hate the toolbox. They see the toolbox as the enemy. They are lousy handymen. They think the problem will go away without having to buy any new tools. Other handymen love using all the new tools being offered. They get educated about using the new tools being offered. Which handyman would you vote for?

perhaps Rybak could auction off 10% of the $50,000 water fountains he deemed necessary to operate Minneapolis. That could raise hundreds of millions of dollars right there!

I wonder why if this city is so broke why did R.T. and Barbara Johnson have to fly to Washington to meet with Obama havent they heard of the phone and i'm pretty sure Klobachar and Fraken had visted the devastated areas so they knew what things looked like why didnt they advocate for Minneapolis pretty sure they could have gone over to Obama's office and spoke to him about needing some help for the Minneapolis residents without spending us tax payers of minneapolis dollars to fly these two people to Washington when we already have two people sitting over in Washington...Come on people start using common sense and stop wasting our money
