Because the absence of so many outstanding veteran players gave many young players a chance to get called up from Class AAA Rochester and get some major league experience.

Sid, The Twins can't win a division title this year. You told us that three weeks ago. Now you say this is their best chance? I'm confused Sid, please pick a story and stick with it. Keep in mind the season is 162 games, and get back to me.

I'm sorry but there is not one player from that group on the Twins roster that I would retain. Liriano is the strongest at a "maybe". Let them all go!

I'd keep Cuddyer, Liriano and Perkins. The rest can go.

What Joe Mauer statues, Sir Sidney?!? I haven't seen any such statues (Downtown, anyway) since last year.

lots of money to be saved by not retaining nathan and cuddyer. nathan has little value at this point. cuddy is a fan favorite but not close to being worthy of his salary. if he would accept about $3 - 4 mil in future years, am guessing he can be a twin for life. kubel is probably main reason the team wasn't 30 games under .500. rather see them retain him than the other two.

Why the $113 million line in the sand? New lucrative ballpark! Profits galore! No need to spend like yanks or bosox but $125 million now seems reasonble. Bait and switch??!! ....

Sid, I disagree with you on payroll constraints. Target Field is sold-out, or close every game; interest and enthusiasm in the Twins has only grown with the new llpark; and the Twins travel well. When the Twins are on the road look at all the " Circle Me Bert" signs, and fans clad in Twins gear. Even the Yankees announcers said the Twins are no longer a small market club, based upon the reasons I already stated. If anything, the Pohlads'should be increasing the payroll. The goal should be to make it to the World Series and to win-every year. s

Keep Kubel Let Cuddyer, Capps, and Nathan go. Save about $30m. A year. Pohlads never have and never will spend over and above for the team. Only owner I have seen do that is Wild and Taylor.
