Mauer catches a ride as Twins win again

  • Article by: JOE CHRISTENSEN , Star Tribune

He wasted no time fueling the team's surge, delivering an RBI single in his first at-bat after a two-month absence, and other returnees chipped in as well.

"Joe Mauer didn't want to be a distraction. With the Twins finally winning again, he said he just wanted to be a part of it." - Glad you waited until we were playing better ball. Just do not let your favorite numbers drag us back the wrong way 4,6,3.

Three grounders and a fly out. I'm not letting Mauer off the hook yet...

I thought some of these posters were going to boo Mauer. What happened? S standing ovation? I know Joe will hit, I just hope he stays healthy behind the plate.

The career leaders in double plays grounded into: Cal Ripken Jr, Ivan Rodriguez, Hank Aaron, Carl Yastremski, and Dave Winfield. All Hall of Famers. It is a byproduct of consistently putting the ball in play and making solid contact. And yet, the Twins "fans" still ride Mauer over it. 3 batting titles and an MVP award just aren't enough for some people.

I think the standing ovation was a good thing...its not like he wanted it this way. A hit and RBI is more than we get some nights from the whole team....its all a work in progress.

How about the manager of the year? He likes coaching a running game? How about the 6th with 2 runners on and he falls asleep instead of having Repko bunt the runners to 3rd & 2nd for and insurance run? And why does Burnett rank as high on the order as he is? As Blyvevan said Burnett has no novement on his fast ball, which means homer? As years before, the Twins win inspite of Gardy. how

Please .... Somebody ..... Anybody tell me why Alex "Blown Hold" Burnett is still a member of this team?? Someone displaying absolute genius sends James, a guy with a 2.3 ERA since being called up back to Rochester, while keeping Burnett, a guy with a 7.00 ERA and climbing. Burnett & Mijares are probably #1 and #2 in all of baseball in blown holds & blown games. Mijares is a left, so we're stuck with him, but we have tons of other options instead of Burnett. Pleeeeeeeaaasse! Just release this clown and bring back James for the rest of the season ...... I'm begging you!!!

I was in the Legends club tonight and heard only a few other people boo Mauer with me. You may have seen me, I was wearing my mauer bp jersey with spongebob squarepants band-aids over the #7, with a cut out bag of ice taped on the top? All I know is that I had 2 guys get a picture of it, and countless folks (including one twins employee!) who stopped me to comment on how awesome it was. Even the folks sitting on both sides of me thought it was pretty funny. Then, like clockwork, all the lemmings stood and cheered.

starting to expect them to win. revere is going to be good, and we have at least a few minor leaguers that should be ready by the end of this year. we should not have waived neshek.
