MN is a hire and fire at will state,so what's to stop any employer from just letting someone go? You can't use a discriminatory reason to let someone go. This agency is NOT duplicating services--but not all discrimination is in the workplace. Legislators interested in slashing this agency are not willing to acknowledge the real reason here--making the playing field less even for the people & making it easier for businesses, landlords, service providers to not have to accommodate those of us who don't have the same advantages as the mainstream. If they truly think this is about eliminating duplicate services they are either ignorant or lying.

This agency was founded in 1967. How did we got along as a state for 109 years with out it?

It is pretty obvious that the GOP wants to cut anything that is not pro-business. Us little people do not matter anymore if we ever did.

stplooklistn - [MN is a hire and fire at will state,so what's to stop any employer from just letting someone go?] *** The court system! If someone was wrongly fired there is legal recourse, why do we need a government agency to tell people to sue.....they can already talk to a lawyer and get the same advice.

Repub goal: Get rid of the Human Rights Department so companies can discriminate indiscriminately without any pretext.
