The apparent frontrunner to take over behind the Wild bench could force a change in GM Chuck Fletcher's plans.

Let's see identify your choice, hesitate, let other team get foot in the door, settle for 2nd choice, then tell fans 2nd choice was your guy all along. Not being able to pull the trigger is a bad trait for a G.M. Good luck with the mess this guy is creating. Either Russo knows or he doesn't, who is are 2nd choice another coach with no NHL head coach experience?

yep, when you sit on your hands while the rest of the NHL hires their coaches, this is what happens. Trade51 hit the nail on the head. Now that we probably wont get MacT (thank God), We will be lied to saying the coach they do hire was #1 the entire time. Not that it matters, the new coach will be a scapegoat for Fletch, except, in two years when Fletch fires him, Fletch will also be shown the door! THEN, we can start rebuilding, again. I dont think there is one employee of the Wild that shows any sense of urgency. Unreal.

@mrbluesky- agreed! Where is CFletch's higher level 'Ivy League' thinking! One thing to be book smart ... quite another to be street smart. But, how often has it happened in a business that some Ivy League 'wunderkind' is handed the keys to the business- only to drive it into the ground in a short amount of time with a lack of experience and business school only 'case study' theory? Darned near every day. So far- not impressed with Fletcher.

Not impressed with Fletcher at all. Not his personnel decisions, nor this entire process. I really think he is in wayyyyy over his head.

How much longer are CL and CG going to prey on the "Minnesota Nice" fan base and just think that they can continue to put a mediocre(at best) product on the ice? This is unacceptable and Fletch is a complete joke. Empty seats at the excel soooon to come from those of us fans who wont put up with this garbage..

It doesn't seem as though this Wild coach decision should have taken until now unless he was waiting for someone off of the Bruins or the Canucks........otherwise you folks are correct......you snooze - you lose.

Did Fletcher work for Glen Taylor at some point because the Wild suddenly look the like Wolves with their inability to make a decision. Yet another MN professional team looking like they don't know what they are doing .... priceless!!

Yeah, maybe Craig Leopold can fire the entire front office and put us Star Trib readers in charge. In the words of Ned Braden: "My goal is to own all of your contracts, run the team my way. I'd make a fortune." :)

Personally, I'm thrilled a the thought that MacTavish doesn't sign with the Wild. Frankly, he was a marginal player on teams with greats like Gretzky, and Messier... and when he coached in Edmonton, all of his teams were a bunch of no talent hacks that would goon it up. I'd like to see Hitchcock here!!
