Souhan: Even if he doesn't become a star, Rubio offers hope, relevance

  • Article by: JIM SOUHAN , Star Tribune

It's hard to imagine Rubio transforming himself from a Spanish league backup into an NBA star, but maybe his arrival will signal or coincide with an era of good luck and player development for the Wolves.

Great article. This is exactly why I'm having a hard time flinging any negative comments at the Rubio signing. What hope is there now on the Minnesota sports scene outside of the recent Wolves acquisition of the #2 pick, the Rubio signing, and Lynx offering some hope?

Rubio will be a star off the court as much as on the court. His parents raised good children. He will be at Children's Hospital, running youth camps, working with Papa Glen for Starkey Hearing Foundation. He is as selfless off the court as his play is on the court. Everyone benefits.

This is a good thing!

I'm not saying that Rubio will be great but I keep hearing everyone comment on his low scoring this past year. How many points did Brandon Jennings average oversees? Less then rubio it was 5. something. The game in Europe is totally different then NBA. Defenders are allowed to be much more physical with the ball handlers. Rubio will have more freedom to drive and dish and even score. I think he will be fine.

The burial ground comment was outstanding.

a point guard should be able to moonlight as a shortstop in the summer shouldn't he?

"and Darko Milicic standing in the corner smoking a cigarette." IALTO. Target Center will be quite a bit more exciting this year with Rubio! Can't wait...

Correction; In the land of the blind, the sighted person is not king. The sighted person is an hallucinating idiot.
