The Twins first baseman is hurting because of a neck injury, but he's overcome injuries and slow starts before.

Morneau says,"It's not a really good situation for me to be in," Morneau said. "If I can play, I can play. There's no reason to make excuses. If I can't play, then I can't play, then it's an issue. Nobody wants to hear excuses. I'm able to swing. "I've been able to do it since spring training ... obviously not as well as I'd like to do, but I'm able to go out there. I'm going in every day thinking it's going to be a good day, and hopefully that's all that happens." Sounds like a lot of innuendo there. Look, if you want to call out a teammate (with the same initials) then get in his face and do it. Somebody in that clubhouse needs to light a fire under these guys at some point.

People that have the type of closed head injury never the same, he will be bothered by it to some degree the rest of his playing days.

Winfield, Stienbeck and the rest of the former Gophers that make millions playing baseball, should pay for a new field. I'm sure they all donated, but 7 million, should have been no problem for them.

Love Morneau's comments... and they are obviously a veiled SLAM against his wussy buddy Joe Mauer. Justin needs to take it a step further and get in Mauer's face. I certainly hope that Mauer is booed off the field his first game back (from an inexplicable "injury" that even the Mayo Clinic says doesn't exist).

"The Gophers athletic department treasury also likely will be short if the Buckeyes aren't allowed to play in a postseason game, because all conference teams share in the bowl money." Isn't that what it's all about to you Sid? It's just about the money? OSU could get 100% of it's offense (instead of the actual 80%) from players who should have been banned from the Sugar Bowl, but as long as the weakest football program in the conference was able to get 9% of that shared revenue, that's what's important. OSU has been showed to look the other way regarding the conduct of its players, and depends upon crushing conference opponents to get into BCS games, but they do share in the conference revenue--thanks for making us all feel bad for finally getting busted.

Coach Kill is doing the right things. From embracing the program's past (as ugly as much of it has been), to working the players and having high demands for them to his involvement in the area. If he can have even modest success in his first couple years Gopher's Football could actually build into something good.

Big fan of Morneau although I wish he wasn't so "vanilla" in his personality. I was surprised that he banged 2 out because he just doesn't appear comfortable in that batter's box. I notice a lot of these pro's stand stiff and not in a "prepared stance". Anybody else see that? I mean I don't see these guys have that look like they are game-ready, it seems more like... oh, I gotta bat now? Am I right?

How is Browbeater Brews sod from the Rose Bowl doing these days? Is he nurturing it in Naples? LOL

Good Lord. I now firmly believe that the Twins need a good old-fashioned benches clearing brawl now more than ever. All that frustration and disappointment is toxic and nothing gets rid of that and can bring a rag-tag together team like a brew-ha-ha. Its coming...and oh look, we're going to be in Kansas City this weekend...
