From-scratch cafeteria cooking is key in fight against obesity.
God help us all. The State needs to teach us how to eat. Will the nanny state check our refrigerators when they stop by to see that we aren't using incandescent light bulbs and that our thermostats are set above 78 degrees? I remember the days when parents raised their kids and took responsibility for feeding them. Those were the days!
Who exactly is obese and what exactly is obese and who is doing the measuring, before we run around screaming that the sky is falling? Are we changing the chairs in schools because kids don't fit, or do we have a bunch of people making money promoting "natural" in a fad-of- the-month over a small percentage of heavy children?... I and my kids measure obese by the BMI - my linebacker son is morbidly obese by the chart - at 8% body fat - yes, the males are around 8% and the females around 18% body fat - D1 college athletes counted as obese children - says the measure is faulty, not the measured... Is a child storing up fat for a growth spurt obese? Or is a teen eating like mom and beginning to look like mom obese?.. I ask because the US military lost three rangers to hypothermia in the Florida swamps several years ago - they were proud of their buff and their 3% body fat. It killed them. That was the Army's idea of proper body fat - but not now... So, do we want the 5 year olds to be 3% body fat? 11 year old boys who will grow two feet and 60 pounds in 18 months to be 3% body fat? And being wrong, we doom them from our arrogant experiment? I see a fair number of fat adults - rarely many heavy children or heavy young adults... oh, and is having the children stress out about food and weight, them eating vegetables all the time and being always hungry and on edge, is that the way to teach them about nutrition and health, or is it actually the way to make food the center of their existence and eating the path to comfort? Careful. You can't fix it if your theory is wrong.
Open your eyes. Look around you. America has become a nation of fatties. Go abroad and stand in a corner. You'll see foreign locals snickering as American tourists waddle by. Nanny state? Don't need anyone to tell you how to eat? Then walk the walk. Stay in shape and lose the lard. And do this liberal a favor and stop driving up insurance rates because you do not know or do not care how to eat in a healthy manner. I love freedom as much or more than anybody, but I also value individual responsibility, which includes setting a good example for the kids by not eating oneself to death on fake food.
The fact that too parents and schools districts are too cheap to feed children healthy, quality food is sad, sad, sad. I am glad that my parents were loving enough that they made eating healthy an every day part of life. This gave me and my siblings a head start in life and, accordingly, we excelled at school, were not overweight, and had a good start. Parents, parents, love your children, be responsible and make sure they eat healthy. If you don't want to be a responsible parent, then don't have children.
There are simple changes that the cafeterias can make. For example, my daughter complained that the cafeteria would run out of salads and fruit by the last lunch period, but cheeseburgers and pizza was always avaiable. The cafeteria has made progress, but still has a ways to go. Another thing the cafeteria did was allow kids who brown bag their lunch to get a piece of fruit or a vegetable at no charge. That helped because very few fruits and vegetables survive being bounced around in a backpack for hours.
HOW TO LOSE WEIGHT WITH A DIABETES DIET WAS SHOWN ON BRITISH TELEVISION AND THE DRUG MAKERS HID THE STORY
The cause of Obesity is government approved food chemicals. The FDA must take the blame fo this crisis. This was proven in a documentary
A European filmmaker has been reversing weight problems in NON diabetics with a Diabetes diet.
It has been giving people who have a hard time losing weight a normal body weight fast
It is now used in 10 countries. ALL weight issues are caused by Food chemicals( PROCESSED FOODS) and he shows how to reverse it
if you are Diabetic or not
just google SPIRIT HAPPY DIET
This is a good start. Too bad it takes a grant to get it done. The learned behavior of eating and liking only processed foods as children is what turns many adults into overweight individuals. Although I agree that the BMI is a terrible gauge of healthy weight one only needs to look around to see that we do have a problem in this country. Sit down in a public place and actually look at the people walking around - you will see that we do have a problem.
Pop Tarts, Skittles, and Soda Pop. Standard snacks on my school bus, morning and afternoon. Good day in school, teacher rewards students with candy and/or pop and sends them to the bus. During the day its pop and candy from the vending machines while shuttling between schools. Yes, obesity is a problem with kids K-12. Don't have a clue what/if they eat in the lunch room.
"The fact that too parents and schools districts are too cheap to feed children healthy, quality food is sad, sad, sad" - Try lazy on the parents part and the schools have no business feeding kids.
"The cause of Obesity is government approved food chemicals". - I hear the Twilight Zone music playing in the background. What other conspiracy theories you working on?
