"Just after 3 p.m., a tornado touched down in St. Louis Park and south Minneapolis.." It's 2:58 right now. Pretty sweet that you guys are writing from the future.

The kid called me from Home Depot in St Louis Park wondering why the power went out and if there was a tornado? Said they got everyone to the back of the store. That time of year I guess, hope everyone is safe

Glenwood Ave between 100 and Penn Ave was virtually impassable from downed trees blocking the road. 4-wheel drive comes in handy to go off-road and get around them.

I just drove down Lowry on my way to work. Where I live on Vincent Ave, it was just a normal thunderstorm, nothing more than a few leaves and twigs on the ground. About 5 blocks further east, it was a war zone- practically every side street had a large fallen tree across the road, for blocks on end.

Shaug034 - This was NOT an AP story. Apparently in the haste to get this story out the S/T made a typo. They have since updated and corrected it. Perhaps you should do the same.

I grew up on Penn and Broadway. Many summer afternoons and evenings the sky was green and churning and, in our boredom and childish ignorance, we wished one of those tornadoes would at least come close. I moved away 45 yrs. too soon! The closest in my growing up years was the series of twisters in May, 1965. It looks like some of the same general areas are getting hit today.
