Four Republicans spoke out against this amendment. Only one would speak for it. The rest are cowards.

“I cannot look at this picture ... and say ‘you know what, Corporal, you were good enough to fight for this country and give your life, but you were not good enough to marry the person you love’ ” — Republican Rep. and amendment opponent John Kriesel, talking of a photo of Andrew Wilfahrt, a military colleague killed in Afghanistan who was gay." Thank you, Rep. Kriesel, your comment should be on the minds of every Minnesotan before they go into the voting booth and reject this abomination of an amendment. I heard many other good comments last night against making this part of our constitution.

The MN legislature could walk through Arlington National Cemetary and spit on a couple or dozen of so graves and likely hit one that belongs to a gay American - they decided it would be better to change the constitution they fought to protect instead.

“I do not believe it is up to judges or even this body, but it should be up to Minnesotans” That's the problem. It shouldn't be up to anyone.

We are facing a 5 billion dollar projected deficit, and our wonderful GOP has promised a "laser" focus on jobs. WHERE ARE THE JOB CREATING BILLS?

We need to believe and accept that all are created in the image of God (Gen 1:26-27) and therefore set apart (above) from all other creation on earth. I believe in my heart that anything we (the people) can do to promote a health socienty, we will benefit all. We are called to love eachother. Not hate, but that does not mean always withholding the truth and reality. The gay lifestyle defies the obivous will of our creator (Ps 1:19 1-6) (Romans 1:26-27). Why does our culture sometimes ignore history (Genesis 19:13)? Our lawyers usually study history before going into law school. Familys are called to church on Sundays to worship and learn. But in recent decades much of our cluture has been listening to distorted teachings that often only please the will of the culture and tickle the ears.

The vast majority of these Republican legislators represent the tyranny of a desperate and shrinking majority. What other personal decisions by citizens do they intend to put on the ballot and codify into our Constitution? Who's next on their hit list to persecute?

History will forever record the Republican's hostile attack to our Constitution - this abuse of power and the majority. It's disgraceful. This land is OUR land, not just THEIR land. Equality will one day triumph over ignorance, fear and the lies to come. Let's hope fair-minded citizens send a message to this reckless leadership and clean house along the way.

plainspoken, if you want to believe ultra-literally in the Bible and live your life according to it, that's your right. But this is about politics and civil rights, NOT religion. The MN constitution is not intended to reflect what *some* interpret a book used by *some* religions to say.
