Rest in Peace, 28....only the good die young.

when you say Wild players were unaware, do you mean each and everyone? What about members of the press, did they know?

This is just a sign of the times in our fast world. People drown their pain - whether physical or emotional - in addictions, and sometimes it leads to this kind of tragedy. There had to be people in his life who knew and tried to help him. But sometimes, this is how it goes. Maybe we can all take heed and not put athletes on pedestals where they feel they cannot meet expectations. And if there are serious head injuries, then even more needs to be done to help the person. It is a sad state of affairs.

Sad story about a guy who is, in many ways, no different than the rest of us. Rest in peace, Boo, and my thoughts and prayers go out to a family in mourning who lost a son, brother and, from what I can tell, an all around great guy with a huge heart and soul.

You know what, how about a little respect in the title of this story? He had a drinking problem, and he took pain killers for pain! The mixer killed him! Not that "BOOZE AND DRUGS" You make it sound like he died from a bag of meth and a bottle of whiskey! Just sayin, RIP

mgala: Why are you looking for a conspiracy theory? The story has been laid out and it's in front of you. The rehab program is confidential, and for good reason. Not only that, but why would you want to air someone's problem when they are in rehab or attempting to get over an addiction. Jesus man show some respect. Bigskyvikes: "Booze and drugs" are exactly what killed him. Just because your mind automatically moves to the worst, "a bag of meth" doesn't mean the title should be changed. The facts are in the story, and the title is accurate.

sorry to hear the results. Also sorry to see our young kids who look up to pro's discover this...

I think this was a good article except the headline Booze and Drug mix. I didn't like the "Booze" part. I would rather have seen alcohol in the headline cause I think the word Booze cheapens the person. I never met Derek but my Grandson did when he skated the flag to center ice at a Wild game and he was very nice to him and shook his hand and they talked about hockey. My prayers are with Derek and his family.

Good reason not to use sports figures as role models!
