A building that could still be loved

Riverside Plaza doesn't need your love. It wasn't designed to be one of those cloyingly pretty buildings, like the glittering Wells Fargo Tower, which practically begs for affection. Riverside Plaza comes off cooler than that. This kind of architecture doesn't focus on beauty -- it builds on ideas.

If Riverside Plaza is a historic place, then the people who decide what is historic and worth preserving have no taste. We don't live in Florence folks.

It is possible to not like the architecture and not be a racist. Has it really come to this? Criticizing architecture and budgets is akin to being a racist. Good luck with that.

Heck, that price makes the Viking Stadium look like a bargain. Wait! Maybe they could just have grafted a stadium onto the building when no one was looking and it probably would look better than anything a government commission could come up with.

Cedar Riverside is Minneapolis' Cabrini Green. Raze the whole thing.

Ghetto in the sky, too funny. I thought my nephew was just being clever when he uttered that phrase. Apparently other people see it for what it is as well. And chock full of bed bugs too. Knock it down.

Does the author with all her rapturous love for this ugly scar on the Minneapolis skyline live there herself. Where is the $132 million coming from?

I think the point is that it can still be a cultural landmark/ historical building AND be ugly at the same time. But again, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I lived there for a year. If they tear it down, I'll be there with pom-poms cheering the wrecking ball on. Only a Soviet apparatchik could appreciate that dump.
