Kubel looks like the only MLB hitter the Twins have. What happens when he goes into one of his slumps? Time for this manager to chew some butt on these guys that fail time after time to throw strikes. How in the world can you trust Mijares to throw strikes when he can't even throw them to left handed hitters? It would be adios Jose. Imagine 17 walks in two games from MLB pitchers. This must be some kind of record.

I posted this yesterday before the game and after watching it feel even MORE strongly that the Twins catchers are not doing the pitchers any favors. Let me preface this with saying I am NOT defending Mauer because I feel very strongly that he should be playing right now. That being said please watch Rivera when he "catches" today. He has the worst target I have ever seen from a major league catcher. His first game out Duensing and Slowey could not get a strike called. When Mauer actually catches he holds his glove out and gives a great target for the pitcher. He has long arms so he will move his glove in or out to frame a pitch and gets strikes called for his pitchers. The Twins pitchers desperately need to get the corners called or they will get hammered. Imagine Greg Maddux pitching and not getting strikes called. If he would have had to pitch to the center of the plate he would get killed. Our defense only catchers can not "catch" a good game. I am a former pitcher and I watch the facial expressions on the mound when nothing is called a strike because our catchers snatch the ball instead of framing it. This season is killing me. The Twins have been the one good team in this town and now they are down with the rest of the pile. Just sad

Wonderful. So we'd rather be courageous and lose than strategically pitch around a guy to potentially win? Don't get me wrong, Mijares walks way to many guys. But praising Capps for his "courage" and throwing the ball over the plate and not criticizing the result is just plain short sighted. I'm sick of this "we play the game the right way" BS, instead of maybe saying, "we play the game to win no matter how it happens."
