Joe Mauer has made a pattern of this "not being able to play." What IS the problem with him? It always seems to be something rather vague. We very seldom actually see him get injured, rather it is always soreness or whatever. I believe I heard that the Twins have the ninth highest payroll in baseball (correct me if I am wrong), basically a good % of that goes to Mauer and Morneau, but at least Mornear is playing. We lost a bunch of players from last years good team, probably because of these salaries. So the team struggles because of all this. Sad. Joe "I play when I want to" Mauer.

Mauer and Morneau can only dream about the iron-man legacy of B. Favre. The Vikings paid Favre less money than Mauer but at least Favre left it all out on the field....we can't even find Mauer on the field. I've heard the homers for years exult the M&M boys while the rest of us objective fans see them for what they are.....fragile porcelin dolls. The homers will still be bowing to Mauer for the next 10 years while the Pohlads tell us they can't afford to sign free agents or renew contracts of guys who give it their all every day..all becuz of Mauer's ridiculous contract for a part-time singles hitter. Cal Ripken and Wade Boggs gotta be wondering why they couldn't pull the wool over their teams like the M&M boys did to the Twins.

Lets face it.Mauer is soft, always has been! He is an Ichiro hitter with a 23 M contarct. This contract has screwed the twins & Bill Smith has cut the rest of the payroll to pay Joe,Cuddy etc. Their is no help in the minors, pretty obvious with the lineup now. Going o be a long season...

What's the difference between Randy Moss, Joe Mauer and Justin Mornea? Nothing, they all play "when they wanna play".

I can't wait to see Twins fans booing Mauer. He deserves the raspberries!

Mauer caught whatever ailment he has from Pavano. Remember Pavano of the Yankees? He was a dog who was always injured. Now he is a carrier of various ailments, and is spreading his illness to our lads, especially young Joe.

Mauer doesn't play when he wants to play. He's simply just not as good as his salary indicates. He's a great player, but $23M is a lot of money and is the sum of money reserved for big time, big moment players. Big moment players get the job done when there's a job to do. Kirby Puckett was a big moment player. Albert Pujols and Derek Jeter are big moment players. In a big moment, in a moment that matters, Joe Mauer will either hit a gound ball to the second baseman, or will not even be playing in the game in the first place. That's the difference that hopefully will not, but very well could, curse this team for a long time.

I just hope the guy comes back and puts up some good numbers. Otherwise people around the country will give the Twins more scrutiny then the Red Sox for the Carl Crawford signing.

He wore himself out in the off season with all his commercials and endorsements. Watched the game on ESPN Monday night and there were 4!! Joe Mauer Head and shoulders commercials. Focus on ball Joe.
