Sid Hartman: Liriano's confidence swells after no-hitter

  • Article by: SID HARTMAN , Star Tribune

The Twins lefthander's next task is to put together a good start at home, after two awful ones to begin 2011.

Watch, Liriano won't make it past the 4th inning in his next start. They will blame the number of pitches thrown in the last one to why he was ineffective. (I hope I'm wrong, but...)

Come on dshav2, be nice it wasn't the pitch count, it was Mauer calling a great game, oh, sorry he wasn't playing was he? Is he still on the team? Oh where oh where has our rich Joe gone, how long on the DL will he be?...This time. I'm sure there is more in the future, count on it.

Every time I see MATURI'S name in print , I see red. Not rage.....just simply all the millions of dollars he has cost MN taxpayers. Lawsuits, contract buyouts of contracts HE extended. If MATURI was gainfully employed in the private sector, he would have been fired years ago.

Liriano was "in the doghouse, because he wouldn't take coaching?" Whose fault is THAT? Another example of the inmates running the asylum, if you ask me - and continuing to be allowed to do so. Maybe that's part of the problem, here?

I agree with dshav2 above in noting that Lirano will probably not make it past the 3rd or 4th inning against Detroit tomorrow night. In fact, based upon his recent past performances, he might not even survive the second inning. The no-hitter will turn out to be highlight, of course, of an otherwise unremarkable season unless Lirano learns to control his emotions when pitching and the wheels begin to fall off.

paddy691944--you are correct sir. Why Maturi is still around is baffling-it would never happen at the top colleges that care about winning

Watch the Timberchihauhau's make their draft picks, then announce a trade (an hour later) for undiscosed "concessions." Basically Grinnin' Glen Taylor sells the player for cash and he doesn't have to pay him. This draft will do nothing to help the Chihauha's. The only thing that could help if their owner (NBA's Worst) would sell the team!

The Wolves are awful at guard and if Rubio is not coming, they better look to U Conn or Kentucky. Maybe they should look there even if he is coming.

Not swollen confidence! That should put him on the DL with no timetable for return. Who knows how long until that swelling goes down.

How bizarre of Sidney to say that! Liriano's performance was a fluke.
