For many, the American version of Buddhism is some tooty-frooty, hippy-dippy, make-it-up-as you-go-along-and-call-it-"Zen." Of course, most of those who fawn over the Dalai Lama have no clue as to the long history of Tibetan Buddhist clerical abuse, that would make even the Catholic church blush. The theory that there are "Holy Men" is full of holes, whatever the religion.

Imperfections of religions notwithstanding, would you rather have even more Americans finding their idols in the NBA or Dancing With the Stars?
