Taking away tax breaks without reducing rates for those who will no longer receive the tax breaks is simply an underhanded and rather slimy way to increase taxes. It would be much more honest just to raise tax rates on all those who buy yachts, deduct bond interest and who consume legal services and clothing--i.e just about everyone.

Amazing how Liberals consider a live-aboard as evil but a house in the north woods is OK. Double standard? You bet! But, that's what being a Liberal is all about. It's not OK for him, but it's OK for me.

"taxpayer subsidies for the purchase of luxury yachts." Allowing people who use their yacht as a second to write off the interest is subsidizing it? If that is the case so is a cabin up North. Try eliminating that and see what folks say!

The MN GOP is proposing a $4 Billion increase in the next biennium budget. Dayton $5.1B plus another $2 Billion in unnecessary tax increases. The choice for voters should be a breeze.

The last time liberals played this class warfare routing with luxury boat owners it caused a 77% drop in sales and 7000 jobs were lost. Are memories really thyat short or is the hatred just that deep? Any tax revenue brought in would be a pittance and it is nothing more than a feel good effort by folks that love to drive a wedge between groups of people.

We are able to deduct the interest on our travel trailer because it meets the requirements and we are nowhere close to being wealthy. I hope you people that are looking to get even with boat owners also turn your envy towards us!

Yachts? How about 23 foot boat with a small cabin a coleman stove and a small bed,, this also qualifies and why should a recreational trailer qualify for any tax break?

aeneuman, republicans are arguing for spending cuts that are going to eliminates tens of thousands of jobs. Where is your outrage about that? I'm not very sympathetic for the poor plight of luxury yacht owners when people having trouble affording one home are suffering. All in all I am fully in favor of eliminating mortgage deductions for non primary residence be it a cabin, yacht, or second home. Shared sacrifice, remember?
