It's simple: Twins lack better players

Injuries, the dismantling of the bullpen and overall poor play have kept the team near the cellar in the AL Central.

Didn't Minnesota defeat Iowa in the final game last year?

"...more than one outstanding player who wants to transfer to the Gophers..."??? Hmmm. I find that very difficult to believe. Especially since now we apparently compete for recruits with the likes of Wayne State and Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

Very Simple.. FIRE BILLY SMITH before he can do any more damage. This team is already ruined for years to come.

I'll say one thing Sid, garden ire is certainly the same manager he was last year.

Poor play rather than not having better players is more relevant. Every player on this team except Butera is capable of hitting .250. EVERY ONE OF THEM!! They are hitting .229 as a team and as you pointed out our 3 time batting champ is hitting .235 and is the 3rd best. Don't site the reason for us losing as we don't have the talent. Guys that are capable of playing very well are playing very poorly. Thems the breaks.

The Twins were all we had. Who do root for now - the Swarm?

I believe that the Gophers will surprise a lot of people this year, maybe a 9 - 3 or 10 - 2 regular season. I think Sid is being a bit negative and doesn't appreciate these young kids potential for big play making. The new stadium is definitely a BIG advantage. Go Gophers!!

We used to hear that the Twins were small market and couldn't compete because of the dome. Now we hear they are no longer small market because they play in a palace. They couldn't afford to pay players that could help them compete because they were stuck in the low revenue dome where they won two World Championships and were the first team to draw three million fans. Yes, even before the Yankees. Now they play in a revenue palace and are making more money than likely even the Pohlads can count. So, why can't they come up with the players that can compete? What is the next excuse? How many games will Mauer play?? Who offered that contract? Do you blame Smith for the moves he has made or not made. Do you blame Gardy for not getting the most out of this star studded lineup? Honestly there are weaknesses in this lineup, but not nearly as bad as what we are seeing. So. they have plenty of money for the first time ever. Every team gets injuries, make moves and live with it like everyone else does. So then, why do we get told there is a lack of talent?? The fans can only give they team so much money. How about the front office and the manager giving something back. I appreciate the no hitter, that was great. Now let build on it and try harder, Smith, Gardy and team.
