Rest Mauer for the rest of this year and maybe he will be ready by June of next year.

Take your time Joe, this team is going nowhere fast. With or without your help.

Twins can't do anything right. They screwed up the Rays no-hitter. The only thing worth watching in this 2nd game.

If Joe is tired - we should rest him until he feels like playing. You should play when you feel 100% - Its OK - we will just wait until then. Let us know when you feel OK! Thanks Joe!

184 million flushed down the toilet?

JoeC: Serious question for Twins management...why was it necessary to throw away a game by starting Swarzak (6+ ERA in AAA last year) in the nightcap Thursday? Baker hadn't pitched in 6 days, why wasn't he on the mound Thursday night? Duensing on normal rest Friday. If Pavano really can't go on Saturday (on normal rest) because he had the flu on Wednesday (seriously?), then you could throw Swarzak on Saturday, if absolutely necessary. If Pavano COULD go on Saturday (and again I ask...why not? And if he can't go Saturday night, is 18 more hours till Sunday afternoon really going to make that much difference) then you could bring Liriano back on 3 days rest Sunday (it's not like Liriano was overworked Wednesday) and not have to waste a game on Swarzak at all. Monday's an off day, Blackburn comes back Tuesday on normal rest. I respectfully request you ask Twins management why Swarzak was on the mound Thursday night. It makes no sense, and fuels the perception this team is incredibly soft, with a manager who seems to let the inmates run the asylum.

Can someone explain why Joe had surgery in mid-Dec instead of say October, so he had a chance to be ready for the season? Oh that's right he needs rest.

Here's the deal. When you make 23 milion a year, there is no off-season. You should be expected to go at any moment. Surgery should have been within 2 weeks of seasons end. And if trainers and officials and Mauer himself were so stupid to think he was ready on opening day, what does that say about the organization? What a kitty cat.

That's OK Joe, we'll be just fine with Sal's kid and the other guy.
