As long as there is no labor clarity, there is no fallback plan in case of an unproductive draft.

I don’t know why this is an issue. Once the CBA is finalized, won't teams be free to sign free agents before the games begin???

And thats why the Vikings wont draft a quarterback tonight...at least not early. The Vikings have enough veterans that they could still compete for the playoffs. If they dont return to work until August, it would be very difficult to throw a rookie into the fire at that point. Thats why they will probably will find a veteran for this season. The only problem is that other than Luck the quarterback class next year isnt any better than this one.

Rick Speilman destroyed the Miami Dolphins, screwed up last years first round pick, and is the architect of your last place Minnesota Vikings. This upcoming season looks to be bleak. Why is Wilf trusting this guy? We could be the doormat again next year. Wilf, didn't you learn your lesson when you hung on to Childress too long?

Just googled Rick Spielman Dophins and the articles about him are not good. Here is a snippet "Rick Spielman, whose personnel moves often puzzled NFL observers, frustrated fans and helped lead to the worst season in Dolphins history, resigned Friday as general manager." OUCH - I wonder if this upcoming season will play out the same way under Spielman. I agree that Wilf seems to hang on to dead weight far too long.

More on Spielman "Rick Spielman's year as the Dolphins general manager was a nightmare and fans and media mock him for his mistakes of inexperience and desperation he made." " he made the A.J. Feeley trade and that was a debacle" "Spielman also traded away a 2004 fourth round pick to Minnesota to move up one spot and pick Vernon Carey, which was a move of desperation and inexperience. Moreover, he picked Carey ahead of University of Miami nose tackle Vince Wolfork, who was rated higher on the Miami draft board, an example of picking for need rather than talent" Seems Spielman's picking for need got him into trouble. Last year he did the same thing.

Speilman will blow this draft just as he did in Miami. Zygi, get some football minds more involved with the organization, maybe you could draft someone? This team is a whisker away from being one of the leagues basemant dwellers. If you want a new stadium you may want to think about putting a quality product on the field!!!!!!!!!

The Miami Herald knows where to put the blame for the Dolphins 0-10 start: Rick Spielman. You don't know who Rick Spielman is? Rick Spielman! The more I read, the more I am not surprised the Vikings had to beg Favre to QB the team, and I am not surprised the Vikings finished last, and will probably be predicted to finish last this upcoming season. Detroit is no longer a slouch. Gosh I hope Spielman is just a suit and there are others on the team making the decisions.

The owners need to stop being babies and start the off-season Free Agency process under the previous rules! The not knowing of what teams will be able to add to their rosters via free agency is going to have people reaching in the draft. Well the stupid teams will reach. Yes, the Vikings fall under the header of stupid team.

Here it is. The best move of the draft for the Vikes - draft Mark Ingram - easily the best RB in the draft. Hang on for the best trade value and then pick up an add'l 1st round pick and a 2nd or 3rd. Worst case? Vikings end up with far-and-away the best running game in the nfl.
