What about trrading up in the draft? Noone is dicussing this. But there are some blue-chip prospects available in the top #10. I think both Carolina and Cincinnati would be interested. The Vikings would have to pay a price, undoubtebly. But AJ Green, Patrick Peterson, Von Miller,Marcel Darius, and maybe, Blaine Gabbert. Those are considered the elite players this year. Any of which should fill a hole for years to come. How many of our lower picks ever pan out? With no free agency, CBA, and so much in limbo, I think the Vikings need to draft a player they have no question marks about.

Please do not draft a Defensive lineman. We do not need one. We have Kevin Williams and Jimmy Kennedy at DT and Jared Allen and Brian Robison or Ray Edwards at DE. Plus Everson Griffen. Offensive line, Gabbert if he falls, or defensive back with the first pick.

If Judd had written this article all five possibilities would have been QB's.

If I have to read about Cameron Jordan being Steverino's son one more time I'm going to barf. Steve was great, but they don't even play the same position, so who cares?

If Patrick Peterson is available at #6, the Vikings should trade with the Browns and grab him. Please no QB's. Its always a crap shoot drafting a QB. Get McNabb or Palmer and lets win with the offense we have. We still have alot of weapons on offense. Defense needs the help and I agree with the other reader. We don't need more line help. We have talented guys on the line if we would play them. Robison is a high energy guy if he got the chance to play more.

so basically the vikings - even though the season was a bust - at best get the 2nd best of anything available...trade down and get picks. Please.

The Vikes need help in a lot of areas, three can't miss picks. If Tyron Smith the best OL in the draft, is still available at #12 the Vikes should grab him. If Smith is gone, and Julio Jones, the best wr in the draft is available, draft Jones. If Jones and Smith are gone, at round #12 draft, Prince Amukamara, if he is still available.

We don't "need" a DE right now because we have decent ones, but if a game-changer is there, and it's that or an average OL, you take the game changer. Quinn or Bowers (when healthy) are no doubters to take a shot at.. But Cameron Jordan? I don't see him regularly projected any higher than the 2nd half of the first round. If anything, Aldon Smith would probably be their guy.. or maybe even J.J. Watt, although I think Heyward is better suited than both for the purple. Amukamara is a decent, solid corner, but he isn't in Peterson's league. I don't think people realize he doesn't exactly grade out to be a lockdown probowler, he's more like a Cedric Griffin, reliable, good corner. But we'd take that. Robert Quinn, Julio Jones, maybe Bowers, and maybe Fairley (might be worth the risk if he slides to 12, even though some scouts say he should be a 2nd-3rd rounder with his attitude and overall body of work) are the guys who look like they could be stars and maybe fall. Amukamara and Tyron Smith would be good fall back plans if they manage to be available.. FORGET QB! There is no one worth it at #12..not worth the money. Maybe Locker, but I don't see how Shanahan doesn't take him at #10, needing a QB, and supposedly having him as his top guy last year.

Everyone wants to trade down, dorkeem.. There are 5 studs, 5 boom or bust types, and then the next 30 guys are like the same quality player more or less.. The guy you get at 1-5 might be a franchise player, but 6-40 are in the same mold minus a knock here or there. Who would want to trade up for that, unless some GM has fallen in love with someone? And even if they have, it won't be the typical windfall. I bet the Vikings could trade down to 20-28 to get an OL and be lucky to recoup a 3rd.

Offensive line is not a pressing need ? Did you miss the part where our QBs got killed last year ? Come on, Chip !
