I am stridently, vehemently opposed to expanding the playoffs. The 162 game season must continue to mean something. If anything, MLB should go back to four divisions ( two in each league), with the winner of each facing each other in a playoff series for the chance to go to the World Series.

Baseball is the only sport that doesn't reward mediocrity with a playoff birth. I like things just the way they are. No additional playoff spots.

So, a 3 game playoff for the 4-5 seeds. What do the 1-3 seeds do during this time, sit on their thumbs and get "rusty?" Wahh wahh I'm rusty. I can't play because we were too good in the regular season we should have lost a few more games and then we wouldn't be so RUSTY. I'm off my 4 days of rest routine RUSTY. I haven't faced live pitching since we clinched the division 2 weeks ago RUSTY. Bawww bawwww

Terrible idea. Last year another wild card would have meant Boston-Yankees in a wild card playoff...(yes, I can hear the cash registers too). But, those teams had already played each other 19 times during the year and one finished ahead of the other. Wny do they deserve a chance at the playoffs? This makes no sense. Baseball is the last sport where you really have to earn a place in the playoffs and now they want to ruin that. $hame on $elig.
