Phil, Like the blog post but I gotta tell you that Defensive linemen are not simply trained to be aggressive. That is a gross oversimplification of the defensive side of the ball. While it is true that there is more aggressiveness on the defensive side of the ball it is simply untrue that defensive linemen are not taught technique. For instance, defensive linemen must learn pad level, pass-rushing technique, and, as a matter of fact, technique for stopping the run (e.g. countering a trap play). Maybe if you take a look at the defensive line practicing you will notice drill after drill after drill focusing on proper technique. Having played on both sides of the ball in high school and college I wanted to point out that defensive linemen can't just run onto the field, pretend to be the incredible hulk, and be all-world as a result. Other than that it was a great article. Keep it up! I really enjoy the Gopher football coverage.

I like the story about Ferguson, and it speaks well for the new coaching staff, but I am confused by his comments because, depending on the offense of course, it would always be more enjoyable to be on O-line, and especially, right tackle with a good TE and your team good be committed to the run (now out of necessity), good story for the part-time kool-aid drinking alumni, like myself.
