Minneapolis Institute of Arts cuts jobs to salvage budget

In its first layoffs since 2009, the Minneapolis Institute of Arts is eliminating 10 positions, citing flat revenue and climbing costs.

Oh my. That must be difficult for them. To think that they need to actually NOT spend more than they are given by the taxpayers.

This is to bad, but I guess we need to feed the people, pay their heat and lights, give them a nice place to live, attend to their health, legal services, nothing left for free art?

My kindergarten grandson came home this week telling me how much he LOVED the museum, told me the different things he like, and when I asked him if he wanted to go back he said - immediately - oh yes! With you! We cannot wait to bring him back - please do not cut too much. Your people are very much appreciated!

a beautiful space and a real credit to the twin cities and all of minnesota. why is it people who post want to kick even the best when their down. is it really necessary to monetize everything. some good people lost their jobs and this minnesota treasure should be protected for future generations to enjoy.i don't want anyone to be in the unemployed, out of work club and to gleefully welcome them is sickening.

"eliminated 10 staff positions as PART of a reorganization intended to trim $1.4 million from its budget next year." The jobs do not account for all of the budget cut.
