'Bad fit' ruled out of fashion

GM Chuck Fletcher said Todd Richards did not bring out the best in the players. Finding a worthy replacement is but one of the jobs that await him.

This is a mistake. Two years is not enough because he had to deal with bad players the first year and Fletcher made no significant improvements this year. I wish Richards the best and hope he catches on somewhere else.

How unfortunate! -- Premodona's = 1, Richards = 0

He should have been given a third year considering what Fletcher-Richards inherited from the previous regime. Now we start all over once again with a new coach and a new system...Just gets old "rebuilding" each and every year.

I wish Todd well. I think he did well with a bottom 5 roster. This team doesn't have any players who are legitimate NHL first line players. Koivu, the team's best player, would be a fine second line center on a good NHL team. Fletcher is going to have to be a stellar GM to have this team competitive within three years.

The Wild continues to suffer the legacy of Doug Reisborough's horrendous decisions and definitely needs a top-to-bottom organizational shake-up. Richards was limited by a lack of depth and talent and I don't think that the Wild's lack of success can be fairly attributed to him. Bad call, Wild.

Really bad move. Is this so that they can say that they are rebuilding for the next two years and then they will repeat the cycle.

Now they can blame inactivity at the trading table on letting the new coach "do his thing" and can (almost) hide a year or two of "rebuilding" under the "players have to learn a new system" excuse.

Isn't that convenient?

Lets see, Fletcher has gone on record saying the team has no depth or young talent. Is that the coaches fault? Seems to me the WRONG person was fired. Good luck Todd Richards as least you have some class unlike gutless Fletcher.

Guess what WILD Fans--Next year this team won't be a "Sniff" better than this year's team! Fired coach or not--you’re looking at another year in 2012 "NOT" making the playoffs. I'd put money on it. I'd be happy if this team moved, b/c 11 years of mediocre hockey is enough. PACK UP AND MOVE ON WILD! A truly pathetic organization.

All of you calling for his head will be calling for the new coaches head next year when we put out the same, if not worse, results considering who we have on this roster. We don't have the talent to compete, plain and simple. I'm not saying Richards did't have his faults, but I think he got a raw deal. Be careful what you wish for Richard haters.....
