Analysis: Wild's early progress is long forgotten

A dismal finish left GM Chuck Fletcher with many issues to address, starting with depth and a lack of young talent.

It's too bad everyone can't be as level headed as Fletcher. I'll be disappointed in him and CL if they cut TR loose. I don't sense any friction in the locker room although CF would know better than anyone. Otoh, TR has come across as a real player's coach during this season ending swoon. Instead of beating on them, he recognizes how disappointed they are that it fell apart and he cut 'em some slack. To use a Russoism, "I've been saying this for weeks. They just ran out of gas due to a lack of depth and scoring." CF gets it. Why can't the fans and the press?

While CF and his Boss preach patience after telling everyone this was a playoff team, they continue to collect high ticket prices and pad the bottom line while the fans get nothing but a team that has no chance to make the playoff and assurance now that you have to wait for the draft choices to spend years in the minors before they are ready for the Bigs. Now would be the time for CL to come out from his suite and tell the ticket holders that the team should be ready to make the playoffs in 2015,hope he'll like his partially occupied publicly financed arena in the "State of almost Pro hockey".

Richards should get another year. He did well with what he was given for a roster and the team seems to buy into his defensive scheme. Consistency will help the development of the young talent the Wild have at the blueline.

Deep down, do people really want Richards to stay because he is from MN? Face-it fans, couldn't Russo have written this article without interviewing CF? What true insight did you expect CF to give? To totally rip himself or CL or TR? Perhaps TR is a good coach, but is he the right coach for the MN Wild in terms of what they have to accomplish in the next several years? Haven't the last two years proved the Wild cannot play an "up-tempo" style of hockey with the players they have? Since when did the Wild have a defensive scheme? After two year at the helm, and the total collapse of the team the last two months of this year, is there any other fans in the NHL who would be begging to keep the same coach?

The failure of the team was easy for me to predict when Leo made his hires and they asked Schultz to get up ice. Its Leos team and he can do with it what he chooses but I don't like to watch the team anymore. The North Stars proved you can make it to the cup with this type of model, so I will be the type of fan that many were back then, jump on the bandwagon when on the rare occasion things are going well.

Why do they only get Minnesota players at the end of their careers?

Ok, another year of being told, we are a few years away from being a playoff contender. How much longer are the fans supposed to pay premium prices for a terrible team that has been rebuilding since 2003? We have no cap space, players being paid three times what they are worth, players at retirement age, a few young players that need time to develope in the minors. Next year is going to be another long year with no success, once again, for the reasons listed above. Nothing anyone can do about anything, just ride out another 4 years of "rebuilding" and BE PATIENT, like waiting 8 years for a decent team isnt patient enough?

MKIA "I will jump on the bandwagon when on the rare occasion things are going well." Is that not what you have always done in the last three yrs? Tell me this mkia do you think if DR was the GM for the last 3yrs they would have made the play offs had better players and been a better all aroind team?
