Here's an idea: Instead of forcing fire fighters to retire due to their age, make them full time inspectors. It will give them more manpower for inspections and decrease the pension costs.

Just curious...what was the actual cause of this fire? Someone smoking or using a heating element in living space, or faulty wiring, etc.? Has this been released?

MAJ — it states in the article the cause was not determined. ...........Quote from the article "No cause determined A city investigation of the McMahon's fire never determined its cause. The blackened shell of the building at 3001 E. Lake St. was torn down last fall. The empty lot is for sale."
