Traffic on 169 could be helped significantly if the lights at the 494 intersection were operated to give north/south traffic more pass through time during the rush hour.

It's really easy. You just build a LRT bridge anywhere regardless of enviromental regulations because the cases will fall over and do anything for mass transit. Then, when they are not looking, graft a six-line bridge on it. They will never have a clue.

correct me if I'm wrong. Hwy 41 carries 14,000 a day and Hwy 101 carries 20,000 a day. Why are we trying to make a $750 million decision on a road that carries less than Hwy 101?

People choose to live in the middle of nowhere, drive 30 miles to work in Downtown Minneapolis then complain about it?

Spending $750,000,000 to accelerate suburban sprawl south of the river doesn't make sense in these times. To pay it off in 30 years takes a subsidy of $5 per car every time it crosses the bridge. Accelerate sprawl, then a host of other costs go up as well...expanded county & muni roads, schools, expanding the sewer system, etc. Meanwhile schools in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd ring suburbs will close because of declining enrollment.

Why are there all these people complaining about urban sprawl? The last I checked this was a FREE country. Should one be able to choose where he or she wants to live?

Raise the road bed of 41 that was mentioned. leave 169 in the "temporary" re-stripe format. 750 million makes a new bridge in Chaska a dream. Acidradio, i doubt that most users of the river bridges actually go all the way downtown Mpls. in case you haven't noticed, there's a very big airport and a lot of commerce on 494.

Best solution yet - don't live down there!
