the parting line of diversify and stay conservative tells me that mr.farrell holds out little hope that our fiscal policy will be the mechanism that will deal with record deficits and mounting government debt.
"Much of the current fiscal situation reflects the cost of combatting the Great Recession." LOL! The recession was nothing more than an EXCUSE to justify spending TRILLIONS of dollars this country does not have. So, tell us, Mr. Columnist, how did Obama's $787 billion stimulus work out? Did it prevent unemployment from reaching 8% as Obama said it would? The United States spends $1.1 TRILLION MORE in 2011 than it did in 2007. Obama's constant demands for higher taxes did tremendous harm to business and the deficit is, too. Why? Because sensible people know that money has to be REPAID and Democrats will demand 70% or higher taxes or confiscation of wealth to pay it off. We have gas prices approaching $4 a gallon. Remember what happened last time??? The same thing WILL happen again: mass layoffs. Then we'll have a situation with already-high unemployment AND a $1.5 trillion annual deficit. I suppose Obama will then use that as an excuse to justify $2.5 trillion annual deficits.
