Every Republican legislator should attend her lecture on Wednesday, and then vote on the U of M's budget.

Marla is special, to give her grad students $100K shows a lot of class too which we could use more of in our public and leaders.

Keep up the good work Professor Spivak! I am a fledgling bee keeper in Bemidji (hobby not a business) and we need a dedicated person like you to lead the way into the future. Without those buzzing bees we would not have the life we have known. Bees are the ultimate master worker for the produce industry. They are a necessity of life for our planet! Just fed our bees sugar syrup to carry them over until the flowers are out. It's been a hard winter for the bees!

DrSteveBrule - you obviously didn't read the story. The grant is from a private foundation, not taxpayer funded. Often, this research is funded by the government, but many of those sources are drying up. The research, as the previous poster pointed out, is very important. A disease has been decimating the bee industry, and without the bees, the agricultural industyr - where our food comes from - would be severly hurt, since these bees are used to pollinate many of the crops.
