Prosecutions up for white-collar crimes

Officials in Dakota County report a rise in prosecutions of financial criminals.

If the system came down as hard on these crooks as they do on sex offenders, then maybe they'd have a little more respect. I mean really, If i knew I could swindle 4-5 hundred thousand and only lose a year of my life- I'd probably jump at the opportunity! But unless the victim was a bank or insurance company, I dont know how i,d be able to look in the mirror every day. What makes many of these cases even more disturbing though, is that a good many of the victims today, are vulnerable adults who know and likely trusted the swindler.
