some how in this one I gotta believe the defense

People under the age of 21 are old enough to fight and die for their country, but not old enough to enjoy a beer at a Twins game?

a couple of points - 1) people under 21 are not allowed to drink because the federal government strong armed states with the threat of withholding federal transportation funds until they raised the legal drinking age to 21. 2) The case wasn't about Wally - it was about whether or not the sting lied to Wally (which under most guidelines is NOT permitted.) According to guidelines - The Minor - if he or she has ID with them - is to provide the ID if asked. If they are not asked for ID, but are asked how old they are - they are told not to lie, but to admit to being a minor. That was the central claim in Wally's defense - that Wally asked the group (including the sting person) - ARE YOU ALL OVER 21? No one said no. Period.

The sting operation was a waste of law enforcement time. Really? Overpriced beers at a Twins game? Oh no the public safety is greatly jeopardized. Having seen the sting operations live, they are targeting the wrong places. Chic restaurants in Uptown during the noon hour? Really? Are we really in danger of underage people getting too much alcohol in these places? Truly a farce and waste of law enforcement resources. Most likely these stings are just ways to get taxpayer dollars to pay for Twins tickets and high priced meals.

Sting? What's the difference if a cop carried the beer around and sold it, then he could arrest the underage drinker right there. Let's give Wally the right to hold & arrest these youngsters. Then we wouldn't need a police force would we?

Why don't we handle liquor sales at Target Field the same way they're handled at large concert venues. ID at the gate and wrist-band those eligible to purchase. Then even if a vendor is selling a beer to a guy 7 seats down, all the guy has to do is lift his arm and show the wristband. Wouldn't this be the easiest solution and provide one ID check, rather than everyone having to show ID each time a purchase is made?

Who cares about this, It's Wally the beer man for gosh sake. It would be like setting a bear trap for Barny, the purple one. One thing however, does Wally make enough selling beer to own a race horse? Where do I apply?

Ah, the sport of baseball. While I like other sports very much, especially hockey, there is nothing in all other sports like walking through the portal and getting your first glimpse of the field. The idea of watching a game with a hot dog or brat with a cold beer is just so appealing. Then there is the chance of having a baseball hit towards you when you have that beer in your hand. What do you do? Do you drop the beer and try to catch the ball? Do you duck, or do something else? This is all part of the game, and the fun of the game. Then there is the Mpls police department that goes out of it's way to entrap "Wally the beer man". How sad that this is all the police department has to do. If they really want to catch underage drinkers, they're looking in the wrong places. Just go to any college campus and you can fill your jails with young evil doers. Yet the jury in this case saw the truth as to what the cops were trying to do, and said NO! Wally did his job the same way that he has been doing it for a long time and the jury saw the truth. Now he has to be exonerated and let back into Target Field. Isn't baseball great?

He is old enough to have saved enough of his hard earned money to own a race horse. Free will and hard work will reap you whatever you want. Good for him.

no kidding - real crime here is $7 beer, then they take to trial a guy for selling to a 19 yr old that has been bustin his ass for the last 40 yrs and is beloved by fans.... "its the end of the world as we know it"
