Frightens me to see all of the comments and how blatantly racist people are. Guess it's easy to do when you don't have to put your face with your comment. Guess it's hard to imagine any of the Hispanics living here possibly could be here legally, but I guess it's just better to assume they are here illegally.

My favorite thing about all these xenophobic republicans is the weak grasp they have on history.

I'd be alright with checking people's immigration and citizenship status...if they checked everyone's. And when I say everyone, I mean everyone. Otherwise get out of here with that nonsense.

INterestingly enough, my comments do not get posted and they follow the guidelines. Bias much?

from stryper1961 "...thank our governor." This article discusses census changes over the past decade. Since he was governor for 8 years of this period, you apparently are laying blame on Tim Pawlenty.

Ah the hatred for Hispanics grows. They can't speak English. They take all of our strawberry picking and urinal cleaning jobs away. Babies everywhere. Some of you may remember another group that threatened this country to such an extent that we needed to put signs up everywhere: "No Irish Need Apply."

Me too, jgus828 and asmithe2. I don't know whether I'm more appalled by the ignorance or the bigotry. On a personal note: I have lots of Hispanic neighbors and our neighborhood is very friendly, clean, welcoming, and filled with the sounds of happy children. A lady down the hall sends her husband out with a bucket of delicious tamales every few weeks. The parents actually play with their kids. And, as someone who has some health issues, I always feel relieved that there are friendly, helpful, people all around.

"250 Illegals, that's big business that's saying catch me you can, I'll pay the fine then hire more illegals after you deport the current one's. Worst than a prostitution ring." I'm still wondering why we keep prostitution illegal, too.

Think there is any remote corelation between this article and the one regarding underperformance in schools? I know it is an issue at my kid' school! The efforts to dumb it down for everyone is not really benefitting society either.
