There are many levels within levels to this story. There's a reason it's been so hard for so long to turn the Northside around. Reading Hoff's blog with a critical eye and sourcing around for contrary opinions is entertaining, and depressing. Nobody involved with theses shenanigans is somebody you would rely on.

A great column, though I must respectfully disagree with the idea that I urged readers to contact the University of Minnesota about Moore. There were commenters who urged that and I merely published their comments like I publish the vast majority of comments submitted to my blog. I actually published the Moore story and quickly moved on to other stories.

My concern is the attempt to silence a blogger who is as protected as any other in the matter of freedom of speech. Mr Hoff I appalude your blogging and would stand up for your rights to blog as you see fit. If you are silenced then who would be next? me?

The writer I think neglected to mention one vital piece of information, and that was Don Samuels was John Hoff’s one and only witness at Thursday’s hearing.

Jill is a conspiracies are a little tiring...Terry, why do you not participate in Powderhorn? Run along Terry, be a good girl and pay your property taxes like John Hoff did. Also, Judge Porter found in favor in the JACC Defendants, so Jerry Moore and Benjamin Myers lost that case, as well as many court cases those two frauds have lost.

The problem with this country is people are able to say anything about anyone else without recourse. If you lie about someone, you pay the price. It's that simple. And it should go for bloggers, tabloids, mainstream media, etc. This country needs "LIar's Laws" to stop this kind o f garbage. I've never understood why the tabloids can get away with publishing lie after lie after lie about people just because those people happen to be famous. Why can't society simply demand that you either publish facts or don't publish anything at all. Who is gaining from false stories other than the tabloids who profit from it? And we wonder why society is going downhill? To go a step further, make it criminal. If you knowingly publish or broadcast false information which harms an individual, you can be criminally prosecuted. It's really no different than assault -- you're harming someone with your actions. Assault, whether physical or verbal, should be illegal and one and the same.

There is a big difference between being a blogger journalist, and using the internet to stalk and intimidate people. Anyone who reads John Hoff's blog on a regular basis knows that the vast majority of his posts are blatant harassment of people who don’t conform to Hoff’s standards. Much of what Hoff posts are malicious attacks on people. Once Hoff has you in his sights he will stalk you using internet resources to find out where you live and work, intimidate you by sending messages and mail to you, your neighbors and employer. He will photograph you, your home and place of business and post derogatory messages about you in his blog. One of his favorite catch phrases is, “Go googlebots.” Because he wants to make sure his disparaging information shows up when his victims are entered into the internet search engine. He frequently publishes detailed information on his victim’s such as phone numbers, addresses and property owners’ information, and employment and urges his readers to harass his victims and/or call landlords and complain about tenants he doesn’t want in HIS neighborhood, or contact employers to get them fired. Many of John Hoff’s victims are renters, people of color, and the economically disadvantaged. He knows that these people most likely don’t have the resources to defend themselves from his attacks. All one has to do is Google John Hoff’s name and there is a wealth of information documenting his harassment and intimidation going back at least 10 years in multiple states.

Journalistas better lawyer up. According to this lawyer they have no protection. "A claimed reporter who is aligned with government or acting as an agent of government is not entitled to First Amendment protection," Clark argues in the complaint.
